classification in high school

It is apparent that high school has many different types of students. The “type” of the students effects the way the teens inter act with each other greatly. For example, as humans, tend to get along with people who posses attributes similar to the attributes we may have. In high school this is even more obvious than anywhere else we see this.
There are so many different types of students in high school. The most obvious one’s include the popular kids, the sluts, the punks, and the nerds. These classifications are entirely based on stereo types.
The “popular kids” usually participate in sports, particularly football or cheerleading. These people are often considered attractive and tend to have wealthy parents and wild parties. They are known by everyone attending the school, not necessarily liked by everyone though. It is said that people are envious of the “popular kids”.
The next group is the “sluts”. the sluts often wear revealing clothing and flaunt themselves in a way that is irresponsible. They are said to sleep around. “sluts” tend to disrespect their bodies. Also a common another common stereotype associated with “sluts” is that they do not posses a good home life or lack a decent father figure. Although this is not necessarily true, many girls who take on the role of a “slut” are merely desperate for attention, although they tend to seek out the wrong kind of attention from the wrong people. This surrounds them in negativity and cause drama and rumors to be spread about them in a high school environment.
The next group is the “punks”. the punks are often associated with stereotypes such as getting bad grades and breaking the law. The “punks” often do illegal drugs or simply just smoke, maybe in attempt to rebel against their parents or just to rebel in general. “punks” are often associated with alcoholics as well. Also “punks” are said to listen to heavy metal or rock music and where t-shirts and tight pants. The whole stereotype of being a “punk” is based off of the concept of teenage rebellion.
Last but not least, we have the “nerds”. The one’s typically considered as “nerds” are almost always extremely smart and well behaved. A common stereotype of nerds is that they wear classes, suspenders and button up shirts. This obviously is not always true. They are often thought to be mama’s boys and not have any association with girls. Sometimes nerds are even considered social awkward or as outcasts.
As you probably have noticed stereotypes in high school classify many different types of teens. What we wear and how we act associates us with a stereotype. This affects the way teenagers interact with in another. But the truth is we are all very different and although we may have some traits associated with these stereotypes that does not mean anyone should classify a teen to fit under one of these categories based on clothing or intelligence. Personality really should be the thing to judge.
